This work is part of the ongoing series The Anatomy of Control, exploring control not as power, but as a psychological response to vulnerability.
The figure carefully removes a fractured mask while revealing an even deeper wound beneath it. The painting questions the belief that absolute self-sufficiency can protect us from pain. Instead, it suggests that the relentless pursuit of control often conceals our deepest vulnerability.
The aged surface of the mask, its cracks and mineral-like textures, symbolize identities that have been carried for too long. Behind it emerges not liberation, but the difficult confrontation with the authentic self.
Executed in layered oil paint with a restrained monochromatic palette, the work emphasizes psychological presence over narrative.
